Walk your dog with love in the countryside

Walk your dog with love in the countryside

Follow the canine code and walk your dog with love in the countryside

1. Take the lead

By keeping your dog on a short leash, you can limit the chances of them upsetting ground-nesting birds and farmer's cattle. Remember that if you are approached by cattle, it is best to let your dog go and call them back when it is safe to do so.

2. Scoop that poop

Picking up your dog's litter keeps the area clean for everyone to enjoy and ensures no one steps in something they don't want to. When you're done, pop it in the bin, or, if there isn't one, take it home with you.

3. Paws for thought

Are you in the right area? Are you near a cliff-top, are there signs of erosion, has it started to get boggy? Are you having to clamber and climb up or down rocks? Remember to always reassess your path and if you think moving forward would prevent you from returning up the path you came from, it's ok to loop back to another footpath!

4. Be on the ball

While lots of us love dogs, some people don't. That's why it's important to make sure your four-legged friend doesn't run up to other people - especially children.

Follow these simple steps, follow the canine code, and walk your dog with love in the countryside.
